Thoughts for the Week…

  • No weigh in this week because of conferences.
     
  • I spent the weekend back in McCook, NE visiting my grandma. She will be 94 next week and still lives on her own. She is a pretty amazing lady! The last time I visited was in June. At that point I had lost about 40 pounds. I’m now at 70 pounds and I chopped my hair off. After we got to my grandma’s house I was sitting at her table and she was on the couch. I looked over at her and she said, “I just can’t stop staring at you! You look so different!”

 

  • My grandma no longer drives so when we come to town this is her opportunity to go to her favorite restaurants! That’s great for gram…not so great for this chic! On her list of favorites are Arby’s, Wendy’s, Runza, Pizza Hut and KFC. We hit 3 of those 5 in a 2-day span! I was very mindful about what I ordered, opting for salads instead of a sandwich and fries. I left gram’s feeling good about myself!

 

  • The first 5k I ever “ran” was back in June and I completed it in 34:59. My goal at that time was to be under 40 minutes. I blew that goal out of the park! So I set another goal…to complete a 5k in 30 minutes or less by the end of October. Well it’s the end of October and guess what? I didn’t do it. Last Wednesday I completed my second 5k, but unfortunately it wasn’t in 30 minutes or less. My final time was 31:24. I’m okay with that…maybe I’ll train for the next one instead of just winging it; that is if there is a next one!
     

WOD (Workout of the Day)

  • 12 minutes - AMRAP
    • 12 – Kettle Bell Swings
    • 12 – Lunges holding the kettle bell
    • 12 - Lateral Lunge and Bicep Curl

 

  • Abs…1 minute of each then repeat a 2nd time
    • Wipers
    • Russian Twists
    • Plank
    • Leg Lifts

  • Here’s the quote I should’ve had a couple weeks ago for the Daily Devotion that I shared about complaining. Complaining is wasted energy, get out there and make the change you want to see happen!

Thoughts for the Week…

  • With a 5 star, 1 smiley, 1 frowny face and 4 workout week, I only lost 0.2 pounds this week. I’ve had pretty good numbers the past 2 weeks and there seems to be a pattern to losing, no matter how good of a week you have. A loss is a loss and I’ll gladly add it to my total!
     
  • I started following a lady who blogs on Facebook under the name “ Living Instead of Existing”. She started her journey two and a half years ago weighing in at 457 pounds. Today she is 180 pounds. Her story in itself is inspiring, but many times after I read her daily posts I think to myself, “That’s just like me!” There’s something to be said about finding support, encouragement and inspiration from people who are in the same boat as myself.
     

WOD (Workout of the Day)

  • Complete the number of reps for each exercise before moving to the next number of reps.
    • 20-18-16-14-12-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1
      • Jumping Jacks
      • Hop Squats
      • Push-ups
      • Sit-ups FULL

      • In and Out Abs

Thoughts for the Week…

  • With such a big loss last week I was kind of expecting a pretty low number. Albeit was lower than the 4 pound loss I saw last week, I was still excited with my loss of another 1.4 pounds because that now puts me at 70 pounds lost total.
     
  • A few months ago I downloaded a Daily Devotions app on my phone. I receive a message both in the morning and in the evening. I have found that not only do these devotions bring thought into being more God-like, I have also been seeing how they relate to my weight journey and my daily life in general.

 

    • “And don’t grumble as some of them did, and then were destroyed by the angel of death.” ~ 1 Corinthians 10:10
      • Complaining…an effortless state to be in; however we have a choice to think differently. As I think back 70 pounds ago, I realize I did a lot of complaining and excuse making. “I don’t have time.” “My back hurts.” “I can’t do that.” And on and on and on. Today, I have learned that I need to think POSITIVE. Those feelings of complaining and excuse making were a message for me to make some adjustments in my life. I’m glad I listened to those messages because when I’m positive, my days seem to be so much happier!
         

WOD (Workout of the Day)

  • Do exercise 1, then 1 and 2, then 1, 2, 3, then 1, 2, 3,  4, and so on until you complete #1-12.
    • Reps  Exercise
    • 1        bear crawl (30 yards)
    • 2        dead lifts with dumbbells
    • 3        rows (3 per side)
    • 4        bicep curls
    • 5        burpees
    • 6        sit ups
    • 7        ice skaters
    • 8        tricep dips
    • 9        box jumps
    • 10      walking lunges (per side)
    • 11       Mtn. Climbers (per side)

    • 12      push presses

  • My challenge for you this week…when you catch yourself complaining about something, change your thinking to what you can/will do to change the situation.
